Throughout the years, we have implemented traditional as well as innovative influences into our Montessori curriculum. Our classrooms are filled with Montessori materials as well as a variety of other creative teaching tools.
The main objectives for including exercises of practical life in the curriculum are to develop the child’s independence, concentration, co-ordination, self-esteem, social awareness, orderliness in the classroom and intellectual development.
e.g. pouring liquids
The work in the sensorial area enhances the child’s ability to explore their environment using all of the five senses. The materials allow the child to explore each sense individually to help refine that sense.
e.g. The Pink Tower
The Broad Stair
The work in the language allows for enrichment of vocabulary, phonetic and non-phonetic sound recognition, function of words, as well as reading comprehension and creative writing skills.
The work in the math area helps the child learn and understand the concepts of math by manipulating concrete materials The work helps the child acquire a solid understanding of basic mathematical principles and prepares them for later abstract reasoning.
